Why did Prohibition Start?Prohibition started because women of the Temperance Union didn't want men drinking any more liquor, and instead wanted them to bring their pay cheques home and help their families. World War One also helped start prohibition by
causing a huge demand for grain and the need for workers to stay on task and get supplies and materials over to help the war. |
Who benefited the most from Prohibition? At the start, most women who wanted prohibition were very happy and many businesses saw that their workers were working better and missing less days. After a while though boot leggers started making thousands of dollars by making and selling boot leg booze. Over all Boot Leggers and the speakeasies that sold their booze made fortunes off of a business that wouldn't have existed with out prohibition. Therefore they benefited the most.

Why did Prohibition end?Prohibition ended because the Government realized they couldn't enforce prohibition and were losing out on millions of dollars that they could be making on taxes from liquor. So slowly the government started bringing back liquor under strict laws to make more money.
